indian ginseng - ashwagandha

Ashwagandha, also referred to as Indian ginseng or Indian winter cherry, is a component of two traditional Indian medical systems: Ayurveda and Unani. A sturdy shrub, it grows to a height of around 170 cm (5 to 6 ft). The upright, branching shrub has red fruits that are shaped and sized like berries and greenish or garish yellow blooms. In many states of India, including Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, and Maharashtra, the plant is grown. Additionally, it is grown in Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Nepal, and Pakistan.
